What I’m Drinking This June

by Aneta

There are certain drinks that appear almost by accident. But not really.

A few days ago, I walked into the store and noticed that passion fruit was everywhere. Perfectly round, fragrant, and impossible to ignore. Suddenly, my recent craving for tropical fruit made a little more sense. Perhaps it is the Florida summer. Perhaps the body simply knows what season it is.

Either way, I came home with a few passion fruits and knew right away how I wanted to use them. Definitely in my yogurt the next morning, but first, since it was early evening, I made the most delicious mocktail. Or perhaps a spritz.

Into a glass, I add:

  • ½ fresh passion fruit (pulp and seeds)
    • 1 fl oz simple syrup
    • Ice
    • Passion Fruit Red Clover Kombucha to top

Give it a gentle stir and enjoy.

The tartness of the passion fruit pairs beautifully with the bright acidity of the kombucha, while the dash of simple syrup keeps everything feeling festive and refreshing. It tastes like something you would order on vacation but can make in less than a minute.

Sometimes the best recipes are not really recipes at all. Rather, they are simply the result of paying attention to what is growing, what is available, and what sounds good on a warm afternoon.

If you happen to find passion fruit this week, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
